Oets K. Bouwsma was born on 22 November 1898 in Muskegon, Michigan. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Michigan in 1920. The following year he received his Master's and in 1928 his Ph.D., both from the University of Michigan. He taught at the University of Michigan as an English instructor from 1922-1928. He began his teaching career at the University of Nebraska as an assistant professor of Philosophy in 1928 and became a full professor in 1948. In 1965, Bouwsma left the Univers...
